Project Self-Help for Refugees

Of the 95,000 refugees in Malaysia, 19,000 are below 18 with limited opportunities for education. The HELP Group launched Project Self-Help in collaboration with the United Nations High Commissioner for Refugees (UNHCR) as a humanitarian and educational initiative to teach refugee youths useful skills and English to gain selfesteem and improve their chances of re-settlement in third countries. More than 200 refugees have graduated from these courses since the inception in September 2011.
